1. Introduction

Bubble Hound is a mobile application operated by Lucifer Stoat Ltd ("we", "us" or "our").

Bubble Hound helps adults discover Champagne offers at pubs, bars and other venues, search for nearby offers, contribute venue and offer information, and verify the availability of offers. Approved venue managers can also claim and manage their venues.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting personal information in accordance with applicable UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we retain it and your rights.

People under 18 should not use Bubble Hound or submit information through the application.

We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will assess the circumstances and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Public users

You can browse venues and Champagne offers without registering, signing in or providing your name, email address or telephone number.

You can also submit missing venues, share Champagne offers, and verify or report existing offers without creating an account.

These submissions are anonymous in the sense that we do not ask public contributors to identify themselves.

However, technical information may still be processed by the services used to operate the application, as described in this policy.

3.2 Location information

With your device's permission, Bubble Hound uses your location to identify nearby venues and Champagne offers.

Your device's latitude and longitude are used to perform location-based searches.

Bubble Hound does not store public users' GPS coordinates in its application database.

Location coordinates are transmitted to the application's search infrastructure when a location-based search is performed. Relevant service providers may process technical information associated with those requests.

You can withdraw location permission at any time through your device settings. Some nearby-search features may then be unavailable.

3.5 Authentication information

Venue managers access restricted features using passwordless email authentication with a one-time passcode (OTP).

We use your email address to facilitate sign-in and account security.

You are not required to create a conventional password for Bubble Hound.

Our authentication provider may process information necessary to deliver authentication messages, manage sessions and protect accounts.

3.6 Technical information

Our application infrastructure and third-party providers may process technical information required to deliver, secure and maintain the service.

Depending on the service and its configuration, this may include IP addresses, device or application information, request metadata, authentication records, error information and security logs.

This does not mean that public users are required to create accounts or provide identifying details.

We do not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

5. Our Lawful Bases for Processing

Where we process personal data, we rely on an appropriate lawful basis under UK GDPR.

The lawful basis depends on the information and the purpose of the processing.

Legitimate interests We may rely on our legitimate interests to operate and secure Bubble Hound, maintain accurate venue and offer information, review venue claims, prevent misuse and respond to enquiries.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we assess whether the processing is necessary and whether our interests are outweighed by individuals' rights and freedoms.

Contractual necessity Where applicable, we process venue-manager contact and account information where necessary to establish or provide requested venue-management services.

Legal obligations We may process or retain personal information where necessary to comply with applicable legal requirements.

Consent Where consent is required for a particular processing activity, we will request it and explain how it may be withdrawn.

Bubble Hound requests permission through your device's operating system before accessing device location for nearby searches. Device permission and the lawful basis for processing under UK GDPR are distinct matters.

We do not use venue-manager contact information for unrelated direct marketing without an appropriate lawful basis and compliance with applicable electronic marketing requirements.

6. Location Services

Bubble Hound provides location-based searches to help users discover Champagne offers nearby.

When you use this functionality, your device coordinates are passed to the application's search service to identify relevant venues and offers.

Bubble Hound does not store those coordinates in its application database.

The application also uses Google Maps and Google Places for mapping and venue-related information.

Google may process technical or location-related information when its services are accessed, depending on how the relevant services operate.

For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

7. Anonymous Contributions

Bubble Hound allows users to contribute venue details, offers and offer verifications without identifying themselves or creating accounts.

We may review, amend, remove or retain contributed information as necessary to operate the service and maintain the accuracy of published offers.

Although these contributions do not require identifying details, underlying infrastructure may process technical information associated with requests for operational or security purposes.

We do not intend to associate public contributions with named user profiles.

8. Venue-Manager Accounts

Venue managers provide their names, email addresses, telephone numbers and relevant venue information when requesting management access.

We use this information to review venue claims, determine whether access should be approved and administer authorised accounts.

Venue-management features are restricted to approved users.

We may contact venue managers regarding claim verification, account administration, venue information, security matters and service-related changes.

We do not intend to publish a venue manager's personal contact information merely because they register or submit a claim.

9. Third-Party Services

Bubble Hound uses third-party services to provide its functionality.

Bubble Hound's Supabase project is hosted in a European region.

However, some third-party providers may process or access information in other countries, including outside the United Kingdom.

Where international transfers of personal data occur, we will use applicable lawful transfer mechanisms or safeguards where required by UK data protection law.

The arrangements applicable to particular services depend on the providers and their configurations.

12. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it is processed.

Active venue-manager accounts We retain venue-manager contact information and relevant account records while an account remains active and the information is required to provide venue-management services.

Closed venue-manager accounts When a venue manager deletes their account using the in-app deletion option, the account and associated name, email address and telephone number are deleted. Previously submitted offers may remain visible, attributed to “User or community added” rather than to the former account. Limited technical or security records may be retained by infrastructure providers in accordance with their retention arrangements, or where retention is legally required.

Unsuccessful venue claims

Information associated with unsuccessful venue claims is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for claim review, security, dispute handling or legal obligations, and is then deleted or anonymised.
